Time to recharge before the road to the European Championship in Bosnia starts
If you’re reading this, I’m probably lying on a beach somewhere in the south of France. Not trying to make you jealous, but for the next two weeks I’m doing ab-so-lute-ly nothing. Well… nothing is a bit of a stretch. I’m not great at sitting still. I’m basically like a four-year-old who gets bored every 10 minutes (shoutout to the poor people stuck on vacation with me).
Luckily, I’ve found the perfect solution: surfing. For me, it’s the ultimate way to clear my head and relax while still being physically active. So maybe I’m not on the beach at all right now, maybe I’m paddling like crazy to catch a nice wave.
Holidays… everyone always looks forward to them, right? I definitely do. The past few months have been tough. Juggling sports and a full-time internship has really taken its toll. So, this break is exactly what I need to reset and recharge. I don’t know if anyone else can relate, but when you’re in the middle of something intense, it all feels manageable. Then, as the finish line gets closer, everything suddenly feels way heavier. They don’t say “the last stretch is the hardest” for nothing.
Anyway, as I’m writing this, I’m actually still working on my final internship presentation. The last few days have been 12-hour marathons in front of my screen, hoping I can finish everything on time. I’m sure I’ll get there but trust me, I’ll need those two weeks off afterwards.
After that, we’ll officially kick off preparations for the European Championship in Bosnia, which takes place from October 8 to 18. And of course, we’re going there to defend our European title. That means from August 3 on, it’s all about basketball again. No school, no job, just basketball.
I always say that if I only had basketball in my life, I’d go crazy (I need to keep both my body and my brain busy). But to be honest, in the lead-up to a major tournament, I always look forward to those 2–3 months of full focus. Just basketball. Total dedication to the team, the game, and my own development. Being in it together every day, working to improve. And let’s be honest, after a long day of training…. It’s an extra bonus that I can crash on the couch, instead of having to rush off to class or work. That saves a ton of energy I can use for training instead.
For now, I want to wish everyone taking some time off in the next few weeks a great vacation. Enjoy it, rest up, and come back recharged for new goals. See you in August!
