Linux Engineer

The base of many open source cloud solutions, such as OpenStack, Ceph and Kubernetes, is Linux. Managing these systems requires a solid level of Linux knowledge. Therefore, we are looking for Linux Engineers who can keep track of, and maintain the Linux-based systems of these cloud platforms.

Your tasks

As part of your role, you will contribute significantly to the financial health and strategic operations of Fairbanks. Your responsibilities encompass both day-to-day financial administration and high-level financial planning and advisory. You’ll work closely with the management team to ensure accurate reporting, financial control, and compliance, while maintaining key stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resolving second- and third-line incidents within the Linux operating system domain
  • Execution of emergency assistance for our customers on Linux
  • Communicating with the customer regarding the progress and resolution of the incidents and assessing and motivating a root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Execution of lifecycle management
  • Participating in the improvement plans to refine our service provision
  • Supporting the first- and second-line support team in solving incidents
  • Extending physical nodes and installing cloud solutions (OpenStack, Ceph, Kubernetes)

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you bring a combination of financial expertise, technical proficiency, and personal drive. You are proactive, detail-oriented, and able to operate independently while contributing to continuous improvement across the organization. You thrive in dynamic environments and have a strong affinity with IT services and modern financial tools.

What We’re Looking For:

  • You have at least two years’ experience with Linux
  • You have at least two years’ experience with Shell Scripting
  • It is an advantage if you have a Linux certification (RHCSA, LPIC)
  • You have at least two years’ experience with troubleshooting Linux based systems
  • You are fluent in English

Your benefits

We believe that a strong foundation of employee benefits helps you thrive both professionally and personally. We offer a supportive and flexible work environment that encourages growth, autonomy, and balance—without the limitations of secondment placements.

What You Can Expect:

  • 24 vacation days to recharge and enjoy personal time
  • A pension scheme to support your long-term financial well-being
  • Flexible working arrangements, including remote work options
  • Company laptop and phone to stay productive wherever you are
  • A personal learning budget to invest in your development and professional growth
  • No secondment (detachering) – you’re a core part of the team, not placed externally
  • Mobility options to support your commute or travel needs
